How I feel when I listen to this record is why I do anything. But, it isn’t just me. In fact, it isn’t even mostly me. It’s largely the work of friends with me and Brady Jo trying to put it all together. We broke a computer in the process on the song called “Manners.” I bought a computer too. In fact, I sold all my record collection, speakers, turntable, and a guitar to make this album. I borrowed equipment, swapped parts as favors, paid studio musicians, and collected parts from over 23 musicians over the course of 13 months. It was a major undertaking for me. And I won’t be doing it again. However, I can’t complain about the results.
I got to work with top caliber musicians from all over the world and 3 great producers in Brady Jo, Mixed By Adam, and bkbirge. I also was fortunate to learn a lot about the song-making process. But, most importantly, I think the songs came out great for anyone who likes the style of music. They are mixed flawlessly by pros and performed effortlessly by musicians who believed in the flow. In the end, a great sounding record is an amazing achievement and everyone should be congratulated and credited.
I am currently building a website for the album specifically with pics and links to everyone’s pages and social media who is on the record. I can’t thank them enough for digging the tunes and their generous time given to see them through. But I’ll try.
I did not expect to feel this content. It hasn’t even come out yet. As far as my focus, I got new music I’m working on. But, I just listened to the record again. It was worth it. All of it. Everyone sounds amazing who contributed. I’m thrilled to put it out in June. Beyond thrilled. But even if it never came out, the experience in listening was worth the effort. Hopefully, everyone who helped make it feels that way.
Until the album comes out, I’ll be learning a little about mixing and recording guitar specifically so the output will be low. But I am investing in a few skills and pieces of equipment that will make a difference in the future.
I used to say I just believe in improvement. Micro, macro, personally, globally.. improving the world around us and improving ourselves are worthy things to believe in. This album has taught me to believe in a few people too. I have never had that before. I love musicians like they are family. Dysfunctional family, but still family.
I was a fan of the songsters on this record before I wrote for them or submitted to them. I could literally hear them taking parts and running with them before we even talked. For them to have delivered expertly in such a way as to make me emotional, I’ll never forget it as long as I live. Thanks. K
"Collaborations"
I had no idea you sold all that stuff to finish the album. I sold most of my vinyl and CDs to finish my one pro studio album back in 1999. We had the money but my 1st wife cut me off. So I know what that kind of dedication means !
Very Nicely Said. This is an outstanding collection of music. Congratulations to ALL of you!
